My thoughts: This is book 1 of a series and takes you through each of the players to show you how intertwined they are and describes the multi-faceted groups of strong female leads and war-torn families. There was a lot of violence, but to me I expected it, given the story line is about two mob families vying for more turf and at war with each other along with Addie Henson at the forefront trying to solve the atrocities.

As I read the book I found myself believing in the characters more as the book developed and unfolded. I loved the way the book moved through the chapters telling the story from different people’s perspective. Giving us insights into their private lives. A story beautifully written and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Adelaide Henson series.
