My Thoughts: The Beach Cabin by Fern Britton is a short, dyslexia-friendly read and the first book I’ve read by the author. I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was drawn into the story. The writing flows effortlessly, with a gentle start and a steadily building pace that really delivers a punch as the story unfolds.
Although it’s a compact novel, it covers a lot—family dynamics, teenage angst, personal growth, and the emotional journey of coming back together after time apart. Britton’s prose is warm and engaging, striking a lovely balance between thoughtful moments and faster-paced scenes.
The characters are likeable and easy to connect with. As someone who has experienced the teenage years with my own children, I found the characters and their struggles relatable and believable.
If you’re looking for a heartfelt, easy-to-read story that doesn’t shy away from deeper themes, this is a great one to pick up.
