My Thoughts: The Christmas Fayre on Holly Field by Lilac Mills is definitely a feel-good cosy romance book and hooks you in right from the beginning. The main protagonists, Harriet and Owen are loveable and relatable, I couldn't help but root for their love to blossom. Lilac Mills did an excellent job of crafting well-rounded and genuine characters, making their emotional journey feel incredibly authentic. I found myself invested in their relationship, and I absolutely adored the slow-burning romance that unfolded. I also loved the side character of Pen.
The setting played a crucial role in creating the cozy atmosphere of the book. The vivid descriptions of the changing leaves, charming shops, and quaint place made me yearn for a similar setting to escape to. The seasonal backdrop was not just a setting but an essential part of the story, enhancing the overall experience. The writing style is easy to follow, and the narrative flows smoothly. I appreciated the author's attention to detail and the way they painted a vivid picture of the characters' emotions. The dialogue felt natural, and the banter between the leads was delightful.
