Historical New Book Releases

Historical fiction has always held a special place in my reading life. It’s a genre that lets me travel back in time, experiencing the sights, sounds, and emotions of different eras through the lives of richly drawn characters. There's something magical about how these stories, woven with care by authors who dedicate countless hours to research, make history come alive in a way that textbooks never quite manage.

For me, exploring new book releases under the genre of historical fiction is like peering into a window that reveals the diverse cultures, traditions, and everyday struggles of people from other times. Each book is a chance to walk in someone else’s shoes and feel the pulse of another world.

One book that recently caught my attention is Cocktails Before Midnight—a captivating read that left me eagerly adding more titles to my list. I can't wait to see where the next historical fiction story takes me!

Publisher: William Morrow Paperback

Pages: 384

About Book: When young Gilded Age society matron Daisy Harriman is refused a room at the Waldorf because they don’t cater to unaccompanied females, she takes matters into her own hands. She establishes the Colony Club, the first women’s club in Manhattan, where visiting women can stay overnight and dine with their friends; where they can discuss new ideas, take on social issues, and make their voices heard. She hires the most sought-after architect in New York, Stanford White, to design the clubhouse.

As “the best dressed actress on the Rialto” Elsie de Wolfe has an eye for décor, but her career is stagnating. So when White asks her to design the clubhouse interiors, she jumps at the chance and the opportunity to add a woman’s touch. He promises to send her an assistant, a young woman he’s hired as a draftsman.

Raised in the Lower East Side tenements, Nora Bromely is determined to become an architect in spite of hostility and sabotage from her male colleagues. She is disappointed and angry when White “foists” her off on this new women’s club project.

But when White is murdered and the ensuing Trial of the Century discloses the architect’s scandalous personal life, fearful backers begin to withdraw their support. It’s questionable whether the club will survive long enough to open.

Daisy, Elsie, and Nora have nothing in common but their determination to carry on. But to do so, they must overcome not only society’s mores but their own prejudices about women, wealth, and each other. Together they strive to transform Daisy’s dream of the Colony Club into a reality, a place that will nurture social justice and ensure the work of the women who earned the nickname “Mink Brigade” far into the future.

The box was constructed during one of Japan’s most tumultuous periods, when the samurai class was disbanded and the shogun lost power. In this moment of national crisis, Emperor Meiji placed a priceless Imperial secret in the Dragon Box, locked it, and hid it in a temple far from the palace. Only two people knew how to open the box: Meiji and the box’s sadistic constructor, Ogawa. Both died without telling a soul what was inside, or how to open it. Since then, the Imperial family has held a clandestine contest to open the box every twelve years, in the Year of the Dragon. The Dragon Box is devilishly difficult, filled with tricks, booby traps, poisons, and mind-bending twists. Every puzzle master who has attempted to open it has died in the process. But Brink is not any puzzle master. With his uncanny abilities, he may be the only person alive who can crack it. Yet, his determination is echoed by a radical group—headed by two sisters descended from an illustrious but disgraced samurai clan—who have vowed to claim Meiji’s secret. They know that the box’s contents have the power to change the fate of Japan, and the world. When they align with Brink’s arch rival, Jameson Sedge, Brink is up against the most dangerous challenge of his life. Mike Brink’s quest to open The Dragon Box launches him on breakneck adventure across Japan, from the Imperial Palace in Tokyo to the pristine forests of Hakone to historic Kyoto to an ancient cave in Kyushu. About Book: Hate The One You’re With is a fiery second-chance sizzling romance in which two former spouses are forced back into each other's lives—whether they like it or not.

My grandmother always had a flair for drama and was a master manipulator.

At eighteen, I was forced to marry so I could pay my college tuition. Enter Caleb Cunningham: my best friend’s brother and a hot Navy SEAL.

I needed my inheritance, his family needed money to cover his dad’s hospital bills. At the time, it seemed like a win-win—two acquaintances just helping each other out.

The marriage didn’t last, but that’s okay. It was a marriage of convenience, nothing more.

At least, that’s what I told myself.

Over a decade later, Grandma’s still pulling the strings from beyond the grave.

Her last wish? For me to live with my estranged husband for six months, or I lose everything—my company and my employees’ livelihoods included.

Now, I’m stuck with Caleb, the rugged, infuriating, and the man who once broke my heart. The deal is simple: he’ll stay with me for the next six months as long as I give him... well, everything.

He wants control.

And, of course, he wants the Bentley.

Caleb seems determined to make my life hell, and he’s enjoying every minute of it.
